100 Monkeys

I went to see 100 Monkeys last night in Seattle with my neice Adriel. We went and had a yummy dinner at Pyramid Alehouse and then got in line about 5:15. There were about 20 or so people in front us. So I knew we would get a close spot. :)

I had an extra ticket because my friend couldn't come with us. I wasn't sure what to do with it but this guy was asking if anyone had an extra ticket so I gave it to him. The gals in front of us said he was going to scalp it but I didn't care he looked like he needed the money more than me.

They let us in at 7:00. We ended up front and center. There were only 2 people in front of us. Yay!!! The show was sold out and it was really packed.

I didn't catch the names of the opening acts. The opening band was not bad; they were rocking it! The second act was this guy from New York. He was good and had a Jim Morrison vibe going on.

Finally we got to see the Monkeys!!! They were great and fun! This is my second time seeing them and I had a blast!!! They make me feel young.

Here are some pictures from the show! I know that is what you really want to see. :)

Summer of Salt

It has been awhile since I have blogged and gave y’all a fic recommendation. I have read some good fics but there wasn’t anything that really owned me if you know what I mean. Here is the link for my favs on FFN.

The story I am going to share tonight has to do with summer!!! You know summertime and the livin’ is easy. Fish are jumpin’ and the cotton is high…or is it? Is it easy or filled with angst?

If you are on twitter or if you follow other Twific blogs you already know what story I’m talking about. Just in case you aren’t in the loop it is Summer of Salt by lola-pops.

Summer of Salt: The heat wave lingers. Sweet, savory and slick. Jasper, Rose and I wade through the humid days, content in our relative isolation. We spend June through August at our family lake property, and this summer is like any other. Until it's not.

I was a little leery to start this story because at the time it was in progress and you know how I am impatient and hate to wait for updates. However you don’t have to wait now. It is now completed.

I started reading this story during my lunch break at work and I was hooked straightaway. I could not wait to get home to finish it. I read it straight through until the last updated chapter.

I loved Lola’s writing! I could really picture the scenery and felt what Bella felt. I went through a whole gamut of emotions while reading; happy, hurt, frustrated, loved. The plot was believable. I liked that her characters don’t really follow the stereotype of cannon and Twific…meaning I don’t recall Bella Barbie being mentioned. (Don’t be offended if your story has Bella Barbie that but it is ok to have in your story but please don’t over do it).

There are laugh out loud moments in this story. The first thing that Edward says to Bella is “Ron Jeremy.” You have to read the story to find out why. The hard part of reviewing for me is that I don’t want to give away the story in the review. I will tell you that Edward starts out as a Prickward. Bella is awesome! The rest of the gang are in the story Emmett/Rose and Jasper/Alice. You will love Mrs. Lauren Mallory but not so much Dr. Cullen and of course there is some lovin’ going on.

I hope I have convinced you to read this story. It is one of my favorites that I will read again and again. Enjoy the journey and yes, you will need tissues!

Eclipse Movie Night

It’s been awhile since I blogged…I haven’t written anything about the Eclipse Opening Night. I went with my family and my friend, Patty. Yes my husband, Mr. Monkeygirl went with us. We had planned on meeting up with my friends from work there too.

When my daughter and I went to New Moon we arrived at the theater around 9:30 and there were maybe 50 people in front of us. So we planned on getting to the theater around 9:00 for Eclipse. We should have arrived at 6 or 7. The line outside of the theater went around the building. I dropped Lil’Monkeygirl and Mr. Monkeygirl off to get in line while I found a place to park.

My friend Chris was already in line and she saved us spots. The line for the IMAX show was inside. Patty and I got my family and went inside. The IMAX theater holds around 350 people and the there were most likely 200 people in line in front of us. Anyways hanging out in line was fun. Lil’Monkeygirl found some of her friends and we hung out with them. The time went by fast. We spent the time talking and being silly. They let us in to get seats our group end being split up. Lil’Monkeygirl and Mr. Monkeygirl and I ended up in the last row on the end. It’s better than the front row.

Anyways here are some of our pictures in line.

I love Mr. Monkeygirl in the background listening to his Ipod.

My workbuddies and me. I orderd the Team Edward and Team Emmett shirts from Cafe Press. The sizes run small so if you order from them order 2 sizes bigger than you normally would wear.

My gal pal Patty and I (not the best quality picture)

Lil'Monkeygirl and Me. She loves Emmett.

As far as the movie, I thought it did capture the spirit of the book. It’s been awhile since I read Eclipse but I remember that Edward was really an Assward in the beginning of the book. The way he was controlling over Bella kind of pissed me off when I read it. Maybe that is where Domward came from? I don’t think controlling Edward came across in the movie. Also in the book when Jacob kissed Bella after the tent scene, didn’t he kind of trick her into kissing him? That was also when Bella saw in her mind what her life could have been like if she chooses Jacob with her little black haired babies. I heard/read on a blog that that scene might be one of the deleted scenes on the DVD. I did like that they did include the back story on Rosalie and Jasper. I loved every scene with Charlie. He was great!

I also loved the way they made Edward looked. I’m glad they didn’t have the ugly red lipstick like in New Moon. You could really tell that the acting of Rob and Kristen had improved greatly from the first movie. They have really evolved as actors.

So far I have only seen Eclipse two times so far. Mr. Monkeygirl wants to go and see it again and we will most likely go this week. I saw New Moon four times. I didn’t see Twilight in the movie theater because that was before I really knew anything about the phenomenon of Twilight. As you know I have only been in the fandom for a year now. What a year it has been!
